New Creative Studios To Open In Derbyshire
First Movement is very proud to have received about £1.8million of funding to develop a new purpose built Level Centre with performance space, technology studio, meeting space and creative industry resource centre in Rowsley, near Matlock. The building is almost ready and will be officially launched in November. There will be a Creative Industries Sneak Preview Open Day on Friday 19th September 2008 at 2pm. First Movement will launch its new website during this preview event and it will give organisations and individuals a chance to sample the facilities in advance of the official launch date. First Movement is an arts organisation dedicated to developing high quality arts projects with learning disabled people operating long-term projects in Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Level Centre idea developed from First Movement’s Level Projects which are radical, live arts collaborations between learning disabled people living miles apart. Using world leading video conferencing, large-scale projection and new technologies it creates a single, virtual arts space in which participants create and perform with people they would otherwise never meet.
