  • 13 April 2019 to 1 January 1900

With sweet vocals soaring over shimmering strings, this dauntingly good quartet weaves together folk roots and classical influences to realise music that is as imaginative as it is sheerly beautiful. Drawing together musicians from Ashley Hutching's Rainbow Chasers and The Old Dance School to spine-tingling effect, and with a diverse set of old songs and originals, this is an intimate and mesmerising evening of folk music.

Blending theatre, music and film, Royal Shakespeare Company actor Nicholas Collett tells the intimate and very human story of the life (and unresolved troubles) of an ex-Battle of Britain Spitfire pilot, now in a residential care home. A compelling look at one of the pivotal moments of the war, and the history, triumphs and tragedies of a truly memorable character, this is hugely entertaining storytelling - a masterpiece of one-man theatre.

Thrill to a brilliantly entertaining lecture detailing how three dapper, but hapless chaps embarked on a perilous boys-own adventure by boat, airship and jalopy across Europe and Asia in search of a mysterious and fantastical ancient treasure (and to revive their mediocre musical careers). Eighty Days Around the World crossed with James Bond crossed with Gardeners Question Time, with mimes, charades, shadow puppetry, close harmony singing - sometimes rather too close - and musical interludes by large men playing big music on small instruments.

As seen at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival BBC Introducing stage, with Jamie Cullum and Jo Whiley. Championed by jazz-pop star Jamie Cullum, sassy double-bass playing singer Kel Elliott is justly acclaimed for her rich and powerful voice and uplifting, genre-leaping songs, backed by impressive and unlikely instrumentation. A passionate songwriter, most recently, she has been gathering stories and personal recollections from historic and reminiscence projects to transform into vivid and inventive story-songs. Here, she brings to light the very best; quirky, fascinating, soulful and wonderful.

A richly enjoyable night of hot jazz, blues, ragtime and popular dances that hint at jazz age 1920s and swing era 1930s; New Orleans, tea dances, Paris Cafés, and sophisticated, smoky nightclubs. Three superbly talented musicians splice quality crooning, a bewildering variety of instruments, a delightful period charm and a flirtatious twinkle in the eye (on the slightly more risqué material), into a laid-back acoustic treat.
