'Astonishing guitar technique coupled with one of England's finest voices… an artist of great ability and integrity.' Ralph McTell 'The folksongs - sung with heart by Bob Fox - are the essence of England.' ????? Manchester Evening News ______________________________________________________________________ Since the early seventies Bob Fox has lovingly developed his skills in the performance of folk song in all its various forms. Hailing from County Durham, his music is deeply influenced by the working class culture and industrial folk song from that area. He has toured extensively solo to folk clubs and prestigious festivals throughout the land, as well as with celebrated fiddler Tom McConville, Stu Luckley, The Hush (BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards nomination 2003), Billy Mitchell (Lindisfarne) and Jez Lowe ('Pitmen Poets'). Bob played the role of 'songman' in 'War Horse' for the past three years, both in the West End and in the UK / Ireland and South Africa touring production. Here he performs songs from the multi award-winning smash hit play, with additional stories and songs from his forty year career in the music industry. The National Theatre's theatrical production of children's writer Michael Morpurgo's 'War Horse', featuring powerful life-size horse puppets by the Handspring Puppet Company of South Africa, has met with strong critical and popular acclaim, winning an Olivier Award, Evening Standard Theatre Award, London Critics' Circle Theatre Award and five Tony Awards. Dubbed 'the theatrical event of the decade' by The Times, the play transfered to the West End (2009–2016), has toured nationally and internationally (including Broadway, Toronto, Tokyo, Sydney, Berlin, Amsterdam, Johannesburg, Beijing) and been adapted to film (Dir: Steven Spielberg, 2011). ______________________________________________________________________ 'The most complete male artist in English folk.'
