This award-winning puppet company brings to vibrant and cheerfully eccentric life GK Chesterton's strange yet irresistibly life-affirming tale of a dreary boarding house and its bored, brooding tenants, shaken by the arrival of a mysterious stranger. A masterful piece of storytelling, with beautifully hand crafted puppets, delicious wordplay and stunning original folk(ish) music. An uplifting, intelligent and emotive triumph. ???? 'Vibrant and cheerfully eccentric.' The Stage 'Wonderful.' The Times ______________________________________________________________________ Award winning Box Tale Soup ('Northanger Abbey', 'Casting the Runes'), bring G.K. Chesterton's 'Manalive!' to spellbinding life, featuring beautifully hand-crafted puppets and stunning original music. Beacon House, a broken-down boarding establishment, is about about to receive a visitor… someone who will turn the little lives of its listless, disillusioned tenants upside down and show them a world of wonder they had long forgotten. But what if their new guest is not all he seems? What secrets lie beneath that bright exterior? How can you trust a man whose name... is Innocent? And as events hilariously unfold, the enigmatic, high-spirited Mr Innocent Smith - the man who brought joy to Beacon House - is placed on trial for murder and denounced for philandering whereever he goes. Full of impressive wordplay, skilled puppetry, wonderful chemistry and delicious folkish acoustic score, this show - a cross between 'Forrest Gump' and 'Mary Poppins', with a little bit of 'An Inspector Calls' thrown in - is a joy to watch and cannot help but bring a smile to your face. Box Tale Soup is a unique theatre group that combines puppetry, physical theatre and traditional performance in engaging, imaginative and accessible productions of literary classics. 'Manalive!' is one of the most joyful novels of all G.K. Chesterton's 'serious' works and a battle-cry against the deadly sin of 'sloth'. 'Manalive!' commissioned by the Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham. ______________________________________________________________________ ???? 'Quicksilver character changes and total control of tone... there is a dance-like flow to performers Noel Byrne and Antonia Christopher's every movement.' The Stage 'A masterful piece of storytelling.' The Argus
