Part of the Live & Local Programme of Events A superb set of wonderfully eclectic music coloured by country, blues, jazz and folk. The beautiful vocals and spirited fiddle of Ruth Angell – best-known as a member of Ashley Hutchings' Rainbow Chasers – are matched all the way by the dextrous guitar of Sid Peacock and Steve Tromans' thrilling piano. A 'wildly creative' (Independent on Sunday), stripped down and personal set evocative of the bright blue shores of County Down (Peacock) and the High Peaks and green fields of Derbyshire (Angell). Beautiful folk combining insistent guitar, winding violin, spellbinding voices and gymnastic piano; pure sung and haunting traditional tracks, famous poems in lyrical, poignant settings, compelling original songs and wonderful instrumentals. Sid Peacock is an Associate Artist at mac Arts Centre Birmingham and Director of the Surge Orchestra. Ruth Angell tours with Ashley Hutchings (Fairport Convention) and Andrea Begley (winner of 'The Voice'). Steve Tromans is an innovative pianist / composer known for his settings of beat poetry (Allan Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac, et al).
