A terrific evening of entertainment, pitting the Bard of Barnsley's rip-roaring poetry and stand-up repartee against the big sound worlds of multi-instrumentalist Goss. Without doubt the funniest, quirkiest, sharpest improv musical-comedy show. 'Unmissable.' Daily Express ______________________________________________________________________ Following a scintillating first half of funny poetry, music, songs and anecdotes, McMillan & Goss present a hilarious improvised musical based on local village legends, gossip and notorious village residents, as suggested by the audience. All is fair game as the community becomes the star of this made-up-on-the-spot musical skit. Ian McMillan 'The Shirley Bassey of performance poetry.' The Times Ian McMillan is one of the UK's best known contemporary poets. Aside from many books (for adults and children) he has also made appearances on television ('Countryfile', 'BBC Breakfast' and 'Coast'), on all the national BBC radio channels (through which he was recently listed as the 22nd most powerful person in radio) and in diverse newspapers and magazines. He is Barnsley FC's poet-in-residence, Humberside Police's Beat Poet and Yorkshire TV's Investigative Poet. Ian hosts hit weekly show 'The Verb' on BBC Radio 3, dedicated to investigating spoken words around the globe. He also maintains a breath-taking schedule of appearances in schools, prisons and arts festivals. Luke Carver Goss 'You've got to hear him play... fabulous.' BBC Radio 3 Late Junction Luke is a stunning accordionist and composer who performs and broadcasts with the Southern European folk group Szapora and with masterful theatrical storytellers The Devil's Violin. He has toured across Britain with the Balkan singer Tea Hodzic and with jazz singer Tina May; and his work with the Carver Trio has been broadcast on the award-winning Late Junction programme on BBC Radio 3, as well as on national radio stations on the continent. ______________________________________________________________________ 'The Verb': 'With McMillan, you feel a draught coming from the blast of fresh air blowing through the dusty cobwebs that festoon most literary programmes.'
