As the Crow Flies

Event information

Pentabus has a superb track record of punching above its weight with its touring shows, and sustains its brilliant reputation here with a heart-warming true story of an unlikely friendship between a dispirited divorcée and a wounded crow. With a smart script by award-winning playwright Hattie Naylor (Royal Exchange Theatre, BBC Radio 4), faultless performances and bewitching original music and songs by Dom Coyote (Kneehigh, National Theatre) this is thought provoking, darkly humorous and truly engaging entertainment. ???? 'Filled to the brim with joy... beautiful, heart wrenching and funny.' Time Out 'Pentabus are one of British theatre's many unsung treasures.' The Guardian ______________________________________________________________________ Alfie keeps hiding Beth's gardening gloves. She's got lots to do and it's just not funny anymore. Why won't he realise that gardening is helping her forget everything? Why can't he see she's still not over her divorce? Why can't he just be nice? Based on a true story of a woman who stuck up an unlikely friendship with a wounded crow; this new play features live music, original songs, great drama – and a crow called Alfie. A heart-warming story of friendship, healing and kindness from Hattie Naylor, award-winning playwright and adapter of 'The Night Watch' for the Royal Exchange Theatre and 'The Diary of Samuel Pepys' for BBC Radio 4. Original music and songs by Dom Coyote, who has composed for theatre companies including Kneehigh and the National Theatre. Produced in association with the Live & Local DART programme (developing artists for rural touring), with Community Touring Network promoters in the West Midlands, and with Salisbury Playhouse. Pentabus Theatre is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England. ______________________________________________________________________ ???? The Guardian, ????
