Artist profile
My debut album, back in 2004, was voted Americana UK Album of the Year and subsequent releases have gathered 4-star reviews from the likes of Uncut and The Daily Mirror. Previously known under the stage name Quiet Loner, I have performed at music venues and festivals across the UK and Europe.
I love to work with people who would not otherwise be writing songs. I’m passionate about the power songs have to engage our memories and emotions and shift our focus to see things from a different perspective.
I am also one-third of a band called The Low Drift who perform songs rooted in landscapes. We go on walks and then write songs about them. The songs explore much more than just geography – folklore, family, childhood and the memories that landscapes evoke. Several of our songs were inspired by walks in Derbyshire.
