Just the Tonic’s Comedy Shindig is back in the grounds of Melbourne Hall with another weekend of amazing comedy talent this July. Tucked neatly inside a walled rose garden in these impressive surroundings, you are covered from the elements as you gulp away on a drink and laugh at the best comedy the country has to offer.
Opening up the summer proceedings, you will not get much better than the Irish comedian, writer, actor, artist and poet Dylan Moran who is known for his observational comedy alongside the amazing TV comedy series Black Books and the odd Simon Pegg movie – Shaun of the Dead! It’s no wonder The Times describes him as “funny and fascinating, and utterly deserving of his place in the modern classics”.
Reginald D Hunter has been performing comedy in the UK for over 20 years. Since his arrival in the UK Reginald’s searingly honest observations both onstage and on TV have garnered him a cross-generational fan base. His TV appearances have included Have I Got News For You?, and two series of the BBC2’s hugely popular Reginald D Hunter’s Songs Of The South & Songs of The Border, documenting Reginald’s epic road trip through 150 years of American popular song.
Milo McCabe (The man behind Troy Hawkes) is a character comedian with over ten years experience on the circuit. He has twice been nominated for the Amused Moose Best Edinburgh show award and was listed as GQ’s Top Ten comedy shows of the festival. TV credits include ITV’S Benidorm, BBC3’s Live at the Electric and various hidden camera and talking heads projects on Channel 4 and 5. As himself, he is shortly to appear in US documentary ‘Everyone has an Andy Dick story’. Described by The Scotsman as a ‘mad comedic genius’, the Errol Flynn of the high street, Troy Hawke will tackle modern issues head on in his uniquely untimely manner.
All shows have a full support bill of great comedians.
With glamping, top comedians, music, food and more planned for 2023, the South Derbyshire stately home is quickly becoming a destination for more than just its iconic gardens.
Tickets from £30.80 with weekend tickets £82.50
