  • Funding available for Internships between March – June 2025. Last possible start date for internships is 7th April

  •  ‘Try before you buy’ – this is a perfect taster programme if you are looking at taking on a student or graduate for a permanent role in the future, or simply want a short-term input of fresh talent into your organisation

Benefits of recruiting an intern
University of Derby students and graduates have high-level skills, fresh perspectives, and huge potential. By offering them work opportunities, you can bring new skills into your business, help them develop, and build your talent pipeline. In particular, University of Derby students and graduates will:

  • have good digital skills and experience of using a wide range of technology
  • be capable of using their knowledge to solve real business issues and problems, with ‘real world learning’ being built into our courses
  • be curious, passionate about learning, and be able to adapt to change
  • have the latest subject-specific knowledge
  • add diversity to your workforce.

How to apply for a funded internship
University of Derby are now accepting applications for the fully funded 80hr ‘Project’ internships, therefore if you are interested, please complete the application form as soon as possible. There are a limited number of these available, so early applications are encouraged.
The deadline to complete the application form will be the 4th February 2025. The Derby Talent Team will be in touch by 7th February with the outcome of your application.

If your application has been successful, the advert will be made live at the Careers with Social Impact event on the 26th February.

To strengthen your application for a fully-funded internship, you are encouraged to have a particular focus on the following areas for the internship:

  • Biomedical and Clinical Science
  • Creative & Cultural Industries
  • Data Science
  • Business, Economic & Social Policy
  • Public Service
  • Zero Carbon

Please note that fully-funded internships are not designed for day-to-day ‘business as usual’ activities. The University of Derby would like their interns to develop their graduate skills and be able to demonstrate significant impact and extra added value to your organisation (through a research project, systems improvement or developing a new area of business for the organisation, for example).
