Spring is in the air at Buxton Fringe!

Things are really hotting up as the Fringe celebrates over 100 entries with many more expected by the printed programme deadline of April 20th. See Take Part to get involved. Entries received by the end of March pay a reduced entry fee of £77!

Underground

Popular managed venue Underground has a new location, the Working Men’s Club on Lightwood Road! See the Fringe’s own venues page listing for full details. As last year, it will also be taking up residence in The Springs shopping centre in the heart of Buxton. There is still time to perform with Underground though their programme is filling up fast! Entrants should apply as soon as possible via https://underthefringe.com/artists/ rather than registering with the Fringe.

Fringe Springboard Line Up

Our entertainment line up at Springboard at the Pump Room, opposite the Crescent on Saturday April 12th is coming together with singer-songwriter Chris Milner – Journeyman booked in as well as comedians Dom Hutchins and Andy Mycock. Everyone is welcome to this fun event with party food and drink from 7-9pm. Please bring cash if you would like to donate for food, purchase raffle tickets or buy Fringe merchandise. There will be drinks available to buy at the Pump Room Bar for which you can use a card. The Pump Room will be decorated with orange flowers and performers are invited to incorporate the theme of spring into their acts. Free seed packets will be on offer to those who would like to get involved in the Fringe’s popular floral Hot Spot scheme.

**Entrants – we still have a performance slot available for this as well as opportunities for short “commercial breaks” in which you can take the stage for a couple of minutes to promote your show. Please contact events@buxtonfringe.org.uk if you are interested in Springboard or in performing at our Programme Party at the Pump Room on June 7th.

Let us know if you have any queries on this.

Fringe Information Desk

We are likely to have some opportunities for paid Desk manager positions, working shifts during the Fringe, as well as roles for volunteer helpers during this busy time. If you are interested in helping the Fringe in any way, whether now or during the festival itself, please contact our Vice Chair, Jeanette Hamilton via friends@buxtonfringe.org.uk

Buxton International Festival

We are excited to see the new programme from our close partners, BIF. See their website for full details. Our own flyer is now out and our printed programme will be available at the beginning of June. As ever, July looks set to see a wonderful feast of entertainment thanks to the combined offering from Festival and Fringe!

And more!

We expect to be out and about at the town’s Spring Fair on Monday May 5th so hope to see you there! We will also be participating at a community showcase event taking place at Burbage Primary School on Monday March 31st March, 8.50am to 9.30am where we look forward to meeting a whole new generation of Fringe goers!
