We have just hung TIME & TIDE a new exhibition of stunning artwork inspired by the sea and coastal landscapes! A trip to Creative Melbourne Gallery during the next month is the next best thing to a trip to the coast without the sandy shoes to take home!
TIME & TIDE features a mix of original contemporary and traditional artwork in clear shades of blue and warm pinks and browns. For a sneak preview check out our online gallery which features images of all of the key pieces in the exhibition.
The exhibition features some stunning seascapes by artists Carole Baker, Helen Brown, Seven McLoughlin, Cynthia Twiss, Peter Watson and Cheryl Wilbraham, alongside Patrick Twiss-Prentice’s maritime images in charcoal and oils, pointillist paintings by Mark Langley. The exhibition also features embroidered pictures by our newest resident artist Michelle Holmes and a collection of mosaics and screenprints by Helen Goodman.
A highlight of the exhibition is the 2d glass designed and created by Stevie Davies. Over the past few years Stevie has developed her practice to a whole new level, recently creating her biggest piece ever BIG BLUE beautiful piece capturing the essence of rippling waves on a calm sea. BIG BLUE measures 70cms x 50cms and can be reserved for collection when Stevie completes her current project funded by a National Lottery Arts Council England DYCP (Developing Your Personal Practice) Grant in June 2025.
Alongside our fabulous collection of hanging work we have some amazingly accurate seabirds sculpted with wire by Jane Gibson.
Don’t miss the fantastic selection of ceramics we have in the Gallery including brightly coloured, whimsical ceramics by Katherine Taylor, seaside inspired handbuilt ceramics in creamy clay decorated with nautical images in black and blue by Jane Clowes and beautiful cream and pastel porcelain embellished in gold by Leanne Ball of Rolling Roses. We also have ceramic pieces by Bradley Spencer, paper porcelain pieces by Helen Butler and functional ceramics by Louise Roe.
TIME & TIDE continues until 17th May and after a speedy turnaround we will be handing over the Gallery to 10 Artists for Derbyshire Open Arts from 23rd to 26th May.
