Artist profile

Lucy Mills – Freckle Creative Learning

As a former primary school teacher turned textile artist and teacher, I specialize in nurturing creativity among young people, particularly neurodivergent, with anxiety or SEND.

My textile practice often addresses issues including gender and neurodivergence; in 2024 several works were selected for national and international exhibitions.

I facilitate community art projects/groups and am committed to fostering an inclusive environment supporting personal and collective expression.

In addition, I teach young people and adults in my studio in Banks Mill, Derby. Sessions offered include bespoke 1:1 teaching and small group sessions in addition to workshops and regular social stitching sessions called ‘Sewcials’.
