THE CHESTERFIELD ART CLUB

The club was founded in 1929 to promote an interest in painting, drawing, and other allied creative pursuits. The club welcomes artists of all abilities from beginners to professional artists.

The club usually meets on the second and fourth Friday of each month, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm ( Exceptions – no meetings in August or on the fourth Friday in December)

The club meets at Whittington Moor Methodist Church Hall, Scarsdale Road, (Dunston Road), Chesterfield S41 8NA

There is an annual subscription which is currently set at £35, payable in February, with an additional charge of £2.50 per session for members.

Visitors are welcome to attend one-off meetings at a charge of £5 per session, or £8 for demonstrations.

 

Creative Genre

  • Mainly 2 dimensional work in a variety of media.

Work Undertaken

  • The club holds regular meetings which are either - - Demonstrations by professional artists in a particular medium - Worknights for members to work to prescribed topics
  • or on work of their own choice - Nominated Subject evenings when members bring examples of work on prescribed topics for discussion The club holds exhibitions of member's work each year at local venues
  • usually supported by other events. Members are encouraged to enter up to six pictures at a time
  • with a hanging fee of £1.50 per picture. We also run outdoor painting days throughout the summer months
  • and additional Indoor painting sessions

Work in Education

  • The club strives to develop the abilities of the individual artist through interaction and encouragement in a variety of ways - mainly through working and exhibiting together as a group.
