Buxton Festival Fringe will be holding an especially significant Annual General Meeting this November.
The event takes place at The Green Man Gallery on Hardwick Square South, Buxton on Wednesday November 20th at 7 for 7.30pm and will offer a chance to thank retiring Fringe Chair Stephen Walker and to welcome in his successor. The Fringe committee will also be giving thanks to host The Green Man Gallery, which has been an important venue for the Fringe but is due to close at the end of this year.
The friendly AGM includes a chance to mingle, enjoy a glass of wine and take part in a Q&A with the team. It will be followed by an abbreviated committee meeting with newcomers welcome to stay and see how the Fringe works before deciding whether they want to join the committee.
The 2024 Fringe in July showcased over 190 entries with participants from as far afield as Canada, the United States and Australia. Recent Fringe figures suggest that the event contributed well over £300,000 to the local economy. 2025’s dates have been announced as July 9-27 with the Fringe website open for entries from December 1. Entrants can see the Fringe website’s Take Part section for guidance.
Fringe chair Stephen Walker comments: “There’s a changing of the guard as I step down as Chair at this year’s AGM. I’m looking forward to seeing new ideas emerge as the Fringe refreshes its team. It is a great time to find out more about how the Fringe operates and see if you want to get involved.”
