One of Buxton’s best loved performers, mezzo soprano Yvonne Howard, is teaming up with Kinder Choirs of the High Peak, at a concert being held at St John’s Church, Buxton, on Saturday 19th October at 7.30pm.
The ‘Bux Fizz!’ event will showcase a mix of classics and popular music so is certain to appeal to a wide variety of tastes .
Musical Director, Joyce Ellis, who has been the driving force behind Kinder Choirs since its inception in 1991, said: “It will be a great concert for everyone. Our guest opera singer, Yvonne Howard, is a popular artist with Buxton International Festival and is a massive supporter of our High Peak choirs . The young performers who make up the choir also love this concert. Their highlights will be arrangements of Mary Poppins and Songs by Queen, while Yvonne will be singing much loved opera arias such as the Habanera from Carmen, and Puccini’s O mio babbino caro. With the title of the concert being Bux Fizz, and bux fizz the interval drink, need we say more about our particular favourite aria, Offenbach’s Tipsy Song!? “
Tickets for the concert are available online from kinderchoirs.org.uk or from Brooke-Taylors, 4 The Quadrant, Buxton at £12 for adults and £6 for children.
