A community choir which started two years ago is looking for new tenors to join them. High Peak Singers are a fun and friendly, no audition choir- but desperately need more tenors to join them. The choir is a great chance to make friends in the area as well as do something scientifically proven to boost your mood.
Led by Hannah Brine, the choir meets on Monday evenings at St Mary’s Primary School, New Mills. The summer term starts on April 22nd.
The choir has around 50 members, and sings a range of repertoire from gospel to pop, sea shanties and classical.
Matt Biggin (singer) says:
“It’s my first ever choir. l have always liked singing but, generally, lots of music can be set too high and I like that I now get to sing parts suitable for my voice. We all have different levels of musical experience but we just help each other along. There’s always an encouraging and friendly atmosphere at rehearsals.
We have sung some lovely music that I wouldn’t otherwise have heard. When it all comes together and sounding great, it’s amazing to be a part of it.”
Hannah Brine (founder) says:
“So many people tell me they wish they could sing – the beauty of group singing is you don’t have to be a soloist to blend together to make a beautiful sound. We are a very friendly bunch, but we work hard together to create something we are proud of. “
