Following on from the great success of the Ragged Trousered Philanthropists, Spital Arts are delighted and excited to present another show in conjunction with Live and Local.
The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari is the original 1920 German silent film directed by Robert Wiene, accompanied by a live performance from Minima. The music score was reworked in 2000 for the 100th. anniversary of the film’s release to strike up a tense relationship with the onscreen images. Minima consists of drum , bass, guitar, cello, double bass, synthesiser and dulcimer to create just the right atmosphere for The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari!
‘The Guardian’ wrote that “Minima’s Spine tingling music clung to each twist of the movie..spellbinding accompaniment”
Minima are one of the leading bands accompanying silent film in Europe. This will be their second visit to Spital Arts after the excellent, unforgettable showing of ‘The Phantom of the Opera’
