Arts Derbyshire has been working to develop the field of Arts and Health in Derbyshire since 2008.
This work has several strands, including a network, strategic advocacy and development work, management of specific projects and information dissemination. Work is managed by the Arts and Health Co-ordinator. The Arts and Health Co-ordinator is also a board member of the Culture, Health and Wellbeing Alliance as East Midlands representative.
The Culture, Health and Wellbeing Alliance is a new national organisation representing everyone who believes that cultural engagement and participation can transform our health and wellbeing. This new Alliance brings together the National Alliance for Arts, Health and Wellbeing and the National Alliance for Museums, Health and Wellbeing and involves over 50 leading organisations. The Alliance aims to bring about a step change in policy and delivery, and will focus on a strong national infrastructure to support development and progress in the field. A monthly bulletin features policy developments, updates on the progress of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Arts, Health and Wellbeing and plans for regional networking and training. In June 2018 Arts Derbyshire organised the launch of 'Creative Health' in the East Midlands, on behalf of the Culture, Health and Wellbeing Alliance and supported by the All Party Parliamentary Group for Arts, Health and Wellbeing and Derbyshire County Council : a vibrant and significant event in the evolution of culture, health and wellbeing work across the East Midlands.
