The Froe in Concert

Event information

With sweet vocals soaring over shimmering strings, this dauntingly good quartet weaves together folk roots and classical influences to realise music that is as imaginative as it is sheerly beautiful. Drawing together musicians from Ashley Hutching's Rainbow Chasers and The Old Dance School to spine-tingling effect, and with a diverse set of old songs and originals, this is an intimate and mesmerising evening of folk music. _________________________________________________________________ Ruth Angell (Peacock Angell, The Rainbow Chasers): violin, vocals, guitar, banjo Charlie Heys (The Old Dance School/The Fair Rain): violin Helen Lancaster (The Old Dance School/The Fair Rain): viola, violin Emma Capp: cello A magical evening of beautifully delicate string arrangements of both traditional and original folk music from this Conservatoire trained, Birmingham based ensemble. The Froe began their musical journey together in January 2014, a string quartet exploring folk traditions, and have since mesmerised audiences from folk clubs to festivals. Combining folk-roots and classical influences to intimate effect, Ruth Angell's sweet vocals soar over weaving melodies and rich textures, often contrasted with sparse harmonies and magically inventive soundscapes.
